    Are You Constantly on the Run?

    Our current Western lifestyle holds us in a perpetual state of stress. The response that used to be natural and protected us—the famous fight-or-flight—became our worst enemy. We now often behave as if we were a fugitive 24-hours a day. Sounds familiar?

    However, the body and mind are not designed to be constantly braced for battle. It’s a condition we can’t maintain. The emergency response, gone chronic, starts to destroy us. We need to step in and change something, transform, or else…

    Prolonged stress can turn our immune responses upside down and prevents us from engaging in our day-to-day tasks. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), colitis, ulcers and Crohn’s disease, as well as obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes, depression and anxiety, have all been linked to stress. These can often occur due to stress-induced disturbances in the intestinal neurotransmitters.[1]

    Master the Uncertainty

    When we are anxious and stressed, we don’t feel in control. We feel surrounded by uncertainty and unsure how to safeguard our wellbeing. This can be a complex problem with many underlying factors that need addressing.[2]

    There is no one treatment that would fit every patient, however, hypnotherapy has shown to be an effective approach, especially when used alongside other therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)—a form of psychotherapy that aims to change patterns of thinking or behavior. In fact, some studies demonstrated that hypnotherapy can be more effective than CBT without hypnosis.[3]

    Hypnotherapy can work well for reducing unwanted fear, panic and uncertainty. Maladaptive thoughts are a focus of intervention and different techniques can be used, ranging from self-hypnosis to hypnotic desensitization and flooding. Hypnotherapy is becoming recognized as an evidence-based technique for stress and anxiety.
